Beverly High School Field Lights Proposal To Come Before City Council
The lights, if approved, could be in place for the start of the next school year in September.

BEVERLY, MA — A proposal to add lights to the Beverly High track and turf field will come before the City Council next month, according to a letter sent to the school community late last week.
The email from Beverly High Principal Mark Thomas said that Mayor Mike Cahill has requested that the proposal be added to either the May 6 or May 20 City Council agenda. If approved, according to the letter, the goal is to have the project completed for the start of the 2024-25 school year.
"A great deal of collaboration and behind-the-scenes work has been done between school administration, the mayor's office and city officials over the last year to make this happen," Thomas said. "This is a wonderful opportunity for BHS and the city of Beverly."

Residents in favor of the proposal were asked to contact City Council members as a helpful way to "show that this is a long-overdue benefit to our students, current and future."
