Beverly Kicks Off Search For School Superintendent
Steven Hiersche has signaled he will retire when his five-year contract ends at the end of the school year.

BEVERLY, MA -- The Beverly School Committee voted to begin its search for a new superintendent Wednesday night. The committee will be looking for a replacement for Steven Hiersche, who plans to retire when his five-year contract ends on June 30. The rigorous process will begin with a series of surveys and focus groups to determine what qualities teachers, students and parents are looking for in Hiersche's replacement.
"I'm at 45 years at this point so it's time," Hiersche told the Salem News, which first reported this story. "My time in Beverly has been incredibly rewarding. It's been a really nice fit between what Beverly as a community wants as education for their kids and what my belief system is. It's a great place to finish out my career."
