Beverly Looks To Connect With Smart911 Alert System

The notification system replaces the previous Swift911 system ahead of this weekend's expected snowstorm.

BEVERLY, MA — Beverly has completed a switch to the Smart911 alert system for residents to receive notifications from state and local authorities, including weather-related emergencies and other city events, ahead of this weekend's projected storm.

City officials said that as of Thursday the system was available to all residents and replaced the previous Swift911 system.

Residents who sign up for the free service can receive alerts via phone, text and email, and can tailor the alerts will receive based on their needs and location in the city.

Individuals who were previously signed up for Swift911 will still receive calls and are not required to make any changes.

"Smart911 strengthens Beverly's ability to communicate with residents when it matters most," Public Services Commissioner Mike Collins said. "This service allows for critical communication with the public and provides individuals with the right information at the right time."

Community members are encouraged to sign up for Smart911 to ensure accurate contact information and notification preferences.
