Beverly Makes List Of 30 Best Small Cities In U.S.

Take that, Salem: Beverly made a list ranking the best cities with populations under 100,000.

BEVERLY, MA -- Beverly joined Newport, RI and Aspen, CO on a travel publication's list of the 30 best small cities in the United States. Alot Travel ranked cities with populations of 100,000 or less to find the most desirable small cities to travel or move to. Beverly was the only Massachusetts city on the list, while Newport, Portland, ME and Nashua, NH were the only other New England cities to crack the top 30.

"If you’re looking for a city that’s the perfect in-between, Beverly is the location for you. It has the mass transit access of Northeastern cities (a 30-min train ride down to Boston), but it’s small population isn’t claustrophobia-inducing," the Website wrote. "Home to the Montserrat College of Art, Beverly is dotted with galleries, murals, and multiple arts festivals."

Beverly was 27th on the list, although Travel Alot is vague on its methodology for selecting and ranking cities on the list.
