Beverly Man Charged, Officer Bitten In Cocaine Bust: Police

BEVERLY, MA — A Beverly man was charged with cocaine trafficking and a Beverly police detective is recovering from a dog bite on the arm suffered as part of a search warrant execution on Wednesday, police said.

Beverly Police Chief John LeLacheur said a joint investigation of the Beverly and Salem police departments led to the search warrant and seizure of 119 grams of cocaine and more than $1,000 in cash from a Beverly home.

Police said David Davis, 58, of Beverly was charged with trafficking cocaine more than 100 grams and was arraigned in Salem District Court on Thursday.

LeLacheur said a detective was bitten by a dog while serving the warrant and was taken to Beverly Hospital for treatment on the arm injury.
