Beverly Man Fined $100 For Riding Bike On I-495
James Christensen was caught riding his bike on the highway an hour after state police told him not to.

MERRIMAC, MA -- When a State Police trooper saw James Christensen, 39, of 56 River Street in Beverly, riding a bicycle in the breakdown lane of Interstate 495 north in Haverhill, he gave him directions to get to his destination and a warning not to ride his bike on the highway again. Less than an hour later, police spotted Christensen riding on the highway and arrested him.
In his report, Trooper Scott Grimes said he gave Christensen another chance to leave the highway, but Christensen refused. He then mocked Grimes, leading to his arrest on a charge of trespassing on state or county property. A Newburyport District Court judge found Christensen responsible and fined him $100.
