Beverly Native Has 15Ks in 10 Innings in AA Ball

A Beverly native has put up impressive numbers to start the season for the AA-level Binghamton Mets.

Jack Leathersich is off to an impressive start for the Binghamton Mets, the AA affiliate of the New York Mets.

The New York Post reports that the Beverly native has struck out 15 batters in his first 10 innings of the season, including a 2-2/3 inning outing this past week up in Portland, Maine versus the Sea Dogs. That brings his totals to 154 strikeouts in 94-2/3 innings of work at several levels of minor league teams.

He is a left handed relief pitcher and "a rare New Englander in ranks full of prospects from warmer climes," the column by Jonathan Lehman said.

He can throw a fastball up to 95 miles per hour and routinely throws at 91-92 mph, according to the Post.
