Beverly Parade Takes Shots At Mayor, National Politics
Beverly Mayor Mike Cahill declined to march in Wednesday's Horribles Parade after having to apologize for last year's parade.

BEVERLY, MA -- The Beverly Farms Horribles Parade took most of its sardonic shots at national political issues Wednesday, with one exception: Beverly Mayor Mike Cahill. Cahill refused to march in this year's parade after having to issue a public apology for last year's parade and floats that were deemed offensive.
According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, there were floats with signs that read "You’re the head of the city even though you’re a big kitty," "Won’t walk in the parade, put down the hater-aid" and "censored horribles." Cahill told the newspaper that shots at him, as a public official, are to be expected.
Following last year's parade, which included a sign with a thinly-veiled slur against a local woman, Cahill was forced to offer a public apology. He watched the parade this year and added "I enjoyed the bands and the drums and bugle corps as I always do."
