Beverly, Peabody Men Arrested On Heroin Charges
The two men were arrested Friday for alleged drug activity in Beverly

BEVERLY, MA — A Beverly man and a Peabody man were arrested Friday on heroin charges following alleged drug activity in the Winthrop Ave. area, Beverly Police said.
Michael Mercier, 38, of Beverly was charged with possession with intent to distribute Class A drug (Heroin), distribution of Class A drug (Heroin), and conspiracy to violate drug laws. Peter J. Hadley 41, of Peabody was charged with knowingly being present where heroin is kept, and conspiracy to violate drug laws
While surveilling the area following complaints of possible drug activity, Beverly Police Narcotics detectives observed a vehicle conduct a suspected drug transaction. The vehicle, allegedly driven by Mercier with Hadley a passenger, was later stopped. Detectives seized a "sizable" amount of heroin and cash, they said.
