Beverly Police Hire New Domestic Violence Advocate

Ross Steinborn will provide support to individuals who are at risk of or have been affected by domestic violence.

BEVERLY, MA — A community advisory board focused on raising awareness and preventing domestic violence in the city is set to be established under new Beverly Police Department Domestic Violence Advocate Ross Steinborn.

The coalition of city, business, school, police and community stakeholders will aim to implement educational programs and develop collaborative initiatives to foster a community culture grounded in safety and support.

"We are excited to welcome Ross Steinborn to the Beverly Police Department as our new Domestic Violence Advocate," Beverly Police Chief John LeLacheur said. "Steinborn's experience, passion for advocacy, and dedication to the community make him an invaluable addition to our team. We look forward to working together to support survivors and prevent domestic violence in Beverly."

The position reflects the commitment of Beverly Police to address domestic violence within the community since it was established in 2002. Steinborn will provide support to individuals who are at risk of or have been affected by domestic violence: including crisis intervention, legal advocacy, and emotional support to those in need.

He has a decade of experience in the prevention of and intervention to sexual and domestic violence. Before joining Beverly police, Steinborn worked as a Victim Witness Advocate in the Office of the District Attorney for Essex County, and before that, as Director of the YWCA North Shore Rape Crisis Center.

He is experienced in championing the wellness of survivors of domestic violence and navigating the legal processes involved in delivering justice to them.

Steinborn holds a Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School, and resides inBeverly with his wife and three young children. His role takes effect immediately.
