Beverly Police Lieutenant Graduates From FBI National Academy

Lt. Mark Panjwani became the fifth Beverly officer to complete the 10-week advanced communication, fitness, and leadership program.

BEVERLY, MA — Lt. Mark Panjwani this week became the fifth Beverly police officer to complete the prestigious 10-week FBI National Academy earlier this month.

Fewer than one percent of officers across the country have an opportunity to take part in the program that teaches advanced communication, fitness and leadership skills.

The graduation ceremony was held at FBI headquarters in Quantico, Virginia on Sept. 14.

Officers are chosen for the academy based on their proven professional records and have an average of 21 years of service time. They often return to their departments in positions of executive-level management.

The 287th FBI National Academy session included officers from 46 states, 21 countries, four military academies and three federal civilian organizations.

Panjwani began with the Beverly Police Department as a reserve in 1997 and was hired as a full-time officer in 2000. He was promoted to sergeant in 2017 and then to lieutenant in 2022.

He has a degree in biology from Gordon College and a master's in criminal justice from UMass-Lowell.

Panjwani has also served as a paramedic for 35 years.
