Beverly Police Discover Homeless Camp Off Bridge Street

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police Department's log:
Wednesday, March 19:
- At 4:38 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Rantoul Street.
- At 6:07 p.m., police responded to a loose manhole cover on Dodge Street.
- At 7:27 p.m., police responded to a past assault on James Street.
- At 7:27 p.m., police and fire units responded to a reported vehicle fire on Rt. 128 South.
- At 8:42 p.m., police responded to a past assault on Elliott Street.
- At 11:15 p.m., a woman called police to report that she was followed home.
Thursday, March 20:
- At 6:46 a.m., police attempted to serve an arrest warrant on James Street.
- At 9:36 a.m., police responded to a past larceny on Hale Street.
- At 10:42 a.m., police responded to an alarm on Puritan Road.
- At 11:00 a.m., police responded to a medical emergency on Pleasant Street.
- At 12:06 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Dunham Road.
- At 2:25 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on a man found sleeping in the woods off of Bridge Street. Responding officers reportedly found makeshift tents and shelters in the woods near the rear of the Ayers Ryal Side Elementary School. There was also a large amount of trash and empty liquor bottles in the area. The DPW was notified to take down and remove the shelters and trash. Evidence of small fires was also discovered.
- At 3:18 p.m., police responded to a medical emergency on Cabot Street.
Lamar A. Taylor, 38, of 31 Elliott St., Beverly, was arrested on charges of assault and battery and malicious destruction of property valued above $250.
Michael A. Jones, 43, of 5 James St., Beverly, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
