Beverly School 'All Clear' After Student Turns In Shell Casing
Police said the middle school was under a stay in place Monday morning.

BEVERLY, MA — Briscoe Middle School has been given the all-clear after more than an hour under a 'stay in place' order. Beverly Police said shortly after 11 a.m. that school activities are resuming.
Police said a bit before 10 a.m. the school was going under a stay-in-place "out of an abundance of caution" after a student turned in an empty shell casing found on campus. Police said it's an old casing, but per policy they did a protective sweep of the school with K-9 units.
Some Beverly residents reported hearing a loud bang or boom this morning in the area, but there is no indication it has anything to do with the shell casing.
