As of 4:15 p.m., there was little information available about the incident.
“Detectives assigned to the office of the District Attorney are responding to a shooting incident at this time,” said Carrie Kimball Monahan, the spokesperson for the Essex County District Attorney’s office.

Beverly Police Department officials said that there was a current investigation by State Police and the District Attorney’s office.

According to reports by WCVB TV 5 News, police shot at a suspect who struck a cruiser multiple times, and the suspect was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
