Beverly Students Honored At Curry, Georgia Tech, MCPHS, Stonehill

These Beverly students were among those recently earning academic or athletic distinction.

BEVERLY, MA — These Beverly students were among those recently earning academic or athletic distinction at colleges and universities across the nation.

Andrew King earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with the highest honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

King was among approximately 1,480 undergraduate and graduate students who earned degrees during the Summer 2021 semester.

Beverly students Matthew Burgess, Kaili Guyer and Jack Winnie qualified for the Dean's List at Stonehill College. Students must have a semester grade-point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.

Luke Plecinoga is now a member of the class of 2025 at Loyola University Maryland.

Amber Earl was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Earl was initiated at MCPHS University.

Earl is among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Montclair State University welcomed Ava Youngreen, who plans to study psychology. Youngren is one of 3,619 first-year students at the school — the largest incoming class in the university's 113-year history.

Curry College said Amanda V Thornton has been named as an addition to the Dean's List for the Spring 2021 semester. Thornton is among the roughly 1,000 students that have received the distinction, a marker of academic excellence and high achievement.

To earn a place on the list, full-time undergraduate students - those who carry 12 or more graded credits per semester - must earn a 3.3 grade-point average or higher.

Stephanie Pratt recently matriculated as a first-year student at Hamilton College.

Pratt, a graduate of Manchester-Essex Regional High School, was selected from a pool of 9,380 applicants to the college, and joins a class of 533.

St. Lawrence University welcomed Billy L. Adams as a member of the Class of 2025. Adams attended Beverly High School.

St. Lawrence University enrolled more than 640 new students this fall, including 625 members of the Class of 2025 and 17 transfer students.

Rosie Gotsch has been named to St. Lawrence University's Dean's List for achieving academic excellence during the summer 2021 semester.

Gotsch is a member of the Class of 2023 and is majoring in environmental studies-sociology. Gotsch attended Beverly High School.

To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have completed at least four courses and have an academic average of 3.6 based on a 4.0 scale for the semester.
