Beverly Veterans Services To Host Toys-For-Tots Drop-Off Site
Veterans Services is looking for totes and clear Tupperware containers to store the gifts that will be collected this holiday season.
BEVERLY, MA — Beverly residents looking to make a child in need's holiday a little bit brighter this upcoming season will be able to do so through the new Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots drop-off center at Beverly Veterans Services.
David Perinchief told Patch on Tuesday that the office at 93 Herrick Street is looking for donations of Tupperware containers and totes to store the donations collected up until delivery.
"The issue that we found with (existing donation programs) is there was no consistency and availability," Perinchief said. "You need volunteers to do this, or support staff to do that, but we're here all day every day.

"It simplifies the process for people who want to donate. They can just stop by."
Perinchief said he expects the dropoff center to be up and operational in time for an opening ceremony on Oct. 28.

He said through participating in the Toys for Tots program he hopes to make Beverly eligible for other affiliated programs such as its school book program.
Toys for Tots holds two donation drives each year — the first in July and the second during the holiday season.
"We currently have the space for that so we thought it was a good fit," said Perinchief, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps for nine years.
