Beverly Voters Back Eventual Winners in Senate Primary
About 15 percent of Beverly voters went to the polls on Tuesday to have a say on which candidates will go to the U.S. Senate general election in June.

Voters in Beverly largely matched the statewide votes in deciding on the candidates that will advance to the June 25 special election for U.S. Senate.
Republican Gabriel Gomez received more than half of the votes on the Republican ballots in Beverly in the three-way race.
Gomez received 638 votes from the Republicans and unenrolled voters who took a Republican ballot. Former U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan received 357 votes and state Rep. Daniel Winslow got 208 votes.

On the Democratic side, Ed Markey topped the ballots in Beverly with 63.5 percent, or 1,797 votes to Stephen Lynch's 1,021 votes.
Turnout was 15.8 percent, with 4,028 of the city's 25,494 registered voters going to the polls.

Gomez and Markey will now face each other in the special election in June 25.
