Beverly's Cabot Theater Launches On-Demand Video Service

BEVERLY, MA — Move over Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video, the Cabot Street Cinema Theater is moving into the streaming service.

The 101-year-old theater is launching an on-demand service that will allow the public to rent digital versions of theater-shown films without a subscription and with proceeds going to support the historic venue.

The Cabot To-Go service is designed to make its new and classic films available to a greater segment of the North Shore population and builds off some of the digital programming success the theater enjoyed when in-person events were not allowed during the COVID-19 crisis.

"Over our long history, one of the essential pieces of The Cabot is the wealth of films we offer to our audiences, and creating an online platform was a logical extension of that, especially while we're in these pandemic times, where we're finding many are not ready to come back to the theater yet," Executive Director Casey Soward said. "Now you will be able to take the magic of our movies with you wherever you go."

Films purchased via the website will be available on a computer or phone apps on iOS, Android, Roku or Amazon Fire. Those who make a rental will have 48-hour access to watch the film.
