Beverly's Pete Frates To Be Honored At Ray Bourque's Captain's Ball
The Bruins legend's foundation will host the event in honor of the late ALS advocate to raise money for the Peter Frates Family Foundation.

BEVERLY, MA — Pete Frates will be honored for the late Beverly native's inspiration to the ALS community and the nonprofit world as the co-founder of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge at this year's Bourque Family Foundation Captain's Ball.
The former Boston Bruins legend's foundation will host the special event at Big Night Live in Boston on Sept. 28. The event will raise funds for The Peter Frates Family Foundation and Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS at MGH.
"He has proved to us that with passion and dedication, you can make an impact," Boston Bruins legend Ray Bourque said. "With this event, we will continue to build on Pete's legacy and fight for the cause he gave his life to."

Frates died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. The St. John's Prep of Danvers and Boston College alumnus was diagnosed with ALS in 2012 at age 27. He died in December 2019 at age 34.
In 2014, Frates helped launch the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which is credited with raising awareness of the disease and more than $200 million for ALS research.

"We look forward to having a room full of donors, celebrity guests, aspiring philanthropists, and our closest friends and family to make this evening a success and have a great time," Bourque said. "My family and I hope to raise significant funds for the fight against ALS through this event."
Dress is Black Tie optional for a night of unique cuisine and hosted bar, alongside celebrity guests, a live auction, interactive photo booth, exclusive event merchandise, and more.
The event runs from 6 to 10 p.m. All-inclusive tickets are $150, available here.
