Beverly's Public Water System Recognized by MassDEP
Beverly wins Consecutive Public Water Systems award and Medium and Large Community Public Water Systems award.

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection announced on Tuesday the 41 winners of the annual Public Water Systems Awards, given each year to celebrate National Drinking Water Week (May 3-9).
The awards were presented during a ceremony held at The Gloucester House in Gloucester.
“The Commonwealth is fortunate to have 1,735 public water systems that work every day to provide a safe and consistent water supply source that we should never take for granted,” said MassDEP Commissioner Martin Suuberg in a news release.

The Drinking Water Week celebration began with the rededication of the West Gloucester Water Treatment Plant on Magnolia Avenue, which has recently undergone extensive updates and facility restoration. Gloucester Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken and other dignitaries were present during the rededication and at the issuance of Drinking Water awards that followed.
Since 1991, MassDEP has given these awards to acknowledge the many dedicated professionals whose accomplishments in maintaining consistent and safe delivery of potable water to the residents of the Commonwealth are worthy of special recognition.
