Update: Man Identified in Sailboat That Washed Ashore in Beverly
No foul play suspected in the death of a Gloucester man.

UPDATE: The Essex County District Attorney’s Office has identified the man found dead in a sailboat that washed up on the beach at Lynch Park on Friday as 76-year-old Alexander Sachs of Gloucester.
The 32-foot sailboat, Etoile, was registered in Sachs’ name. No foul play is suspected at this time.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to officially determine the cause and manner of death.
A sailboat with a body washed up on shore around 1:30 Friday afternoon at Lynch Park in Beverly, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s office.

The deceased is an elderly man that appears to have died of natural causes, according to authorities..The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner removed the body and will perform an autopsy to determinecause and manner of death.
The deceased man has not been positively identified. The matter remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Essex District Attorney’s Office and Beverly Police.
Late Friday night, a NECN report identified the boat the boat’s name as “Etoile,” based in Salem and registered to a Gloucester man who has not been identified to the media.
NECN also reported that a man was taken away by police around 9 p.m. after he tried to claim “salvage rights” to the boat by swimming out to it.
