Announcing the Winner of Our Summer Banner Design Contest
Check out the new light pole banners that will be installed downtown in the spring. The design is by Beverly artist John Hall. March 1st is the deadline to sponsor a banner!

Every year we select local artists to design our downtown light pole banners. The banners brighten up downtown, celebrate the arts and provide sponsorship opportunities for local businesses. After reviewing all of the banner design submissions, Beverly artist John Hall’s striking banner was chosen for our 2013 summer banner. The colorful graphic design of the banner includes the message “Downtown – Keep it Local,” and will encourage the community to support our downtown businesses.
Over 50 banners will be installed on Cabot, Rantoul and Elliot Streets and each banner will include a tag with the name of the sponsor. The deadline to sponsor a banner is March 1st. Please contact Heather Wolsey, Beverly Main Streets Marketing Coordinator at 978-922-8558 if you are interested in sponsoring a banner.
John Hall is a resident of the Montserrat section of Beverly and is owner of the John Hall Design Group (www.johnhalldesign.com) on Rantoul Street. John Hall Design Group specializes in customized print publications for corporate and institutional clients.

Mr. Hall is very involved in the community and says he’s “pretty much the official designer of the Hannah School,” where his children attend. He designed the school’s logo and website, and dozens of posters and flyers for school events. He also developed the panther seal that adorns the lobby floor of Beverly High School.
When asked about the inspiration for his design, Mr. Hall said, “Much of my business this time of year involves more technical projects such as financial and law school books—pretty dry stuff. This was a good opportunity to switch gears and do a more colorful, creative, freeform piece. The design is meant to symbolize the colorful, vibrant and artistic city that I envision for downtown Beverly. I hope the banners will add a splash of color and energy, and that their message encourages residents from across the city to come downtown and support local businesses.”
