Beverly Man Honored by Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center
Beverly Man, Jason Maxwell is being honored by the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center as a member of the one hundred

Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and its annual celebration, the one hundred, which honors 100 people or organizations for their contributions in the fight against cancer. Jason Maxwell is being honored this year.
Jason was 9 years old when his father succumbed to cancer after a long battle that often took him away from his family for treatment at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Because of this experience, Jason strongly supports Mass General-North Shore Cancer Center, which enables patients and families in his community to obtain world-class cancer care close to home.
“One of the gifts my father passed on to me was his fighting spirit,” Jason wrote in a speech to promote the center’s main fundraiser, the annual North Shore Cancer WALK-RUN. “That legacy is part of what drove me to join the battle against cancer.” In 2012, Jason chaired the event, which drew more than 6,000 walkers and 550 runners and raised more than $915,000.

Each year since 2008, 100 individuals, groups or organizations from all walks of life have been selected by the Boston-based Cancer Center for their many contributions to the cancer cause. Nominations came from sources across the country and around the globe for this year’s list. From names well-known to the public, to those unsung heroes who work quietly each day, the one hundred connects these people and tells their stories. Massachusetts native John Krasinski of The Office will join co-chairs Vicary Graham and Patti and Jonathan Kraft at the gala reception honoring recipients of the one hundred at the Westin Boston Waterfront on Wednesday June 5 at the Westin Waterfront Hotel.
