Beverly’s Newest Theatre Company Showcases Timeless Stage Comedy

The Sea Change Theatre Company will be staging Oscar Wilde’s classic "The Importance of Being Earnest" throughout the month of September.

“The Importance of Being Earnest - A Trivial Comedy for Serious People” is a  witty comedy of manners which explores the importance of knowing who one truly is. 

In Oscar Wilde's most significant work, two dashing young men create imaginary identities in order to escape their responsibilities in "proper society."  When their lies inevitably cross, ensnaring two elegant young ladies, a formidable matron, and an obtuse cleric, hilarity ensues.

In their debut performance, this fresh new company begins to define their philosophy of “illuminating the human experience through theatrical works that seek to inspire purpose and offer hope.”

Under the direction of Jason Schaum, Sea Change hopes to cultivate New England talent through opportunities to participate in all areas of the collaborative process. Additionally, each season includes the debut of one new work providing local playwrights an opportunity to have their works produced.
