ENDICOTT TO PURCHASE STONERIDGE MONTESSORI BUILDING ON HALE STREET

Endicott College will purchase the Stoneridge Montessori building on Hale Street this summer.

Beverly, MA -- In a joint announcement, Robert Cipriani, Co-Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Harborlight-Stoneridge Montessori School and President Richard E. Wylie of Endicott College announced Endicott will purchase the Stoneridge Children’s Montessori School building on Hale Street.  As part of the Agreement, Endicott will reclaim the 9.5 acres of land they leased to Stoneridge eleven years ago. This Agreement will take effect in the summer of 2013.

In July of 2012, the Harborlight and Stoneridge Children’s Montessori Schools merged to create a larger and more vibrant school and have been operating the Harborlight-Stoneridge Montessori School at their two separate locations on Essex Street and Hale Street.  After much deliberation, the School’s Board of Trustees decided that a single-campus environment was the best way to achieve both short and long-term goals.  So, after discussions with Endicott College, the Stoneridge school building and property will be incorporated back into the Endicott campus.

According to Mr. Cipriani, the sale of the much-loved Stoneridge campus enables Harborlight-Stoneridge to further advance many of the strategic objectives of the merger. “A unified campus brings together a vibrant and diverse student body of toddlers to eighth graders,” said Cipriani.  “One campus allows us to offer an even richer curriculum; bigger peer groups for every child; and, importantly, long-term financial growth.”

Cipriani also underscored the importance of the School’s long-standing relationship Endicott College and the many prospects for further collaboration. “When you are connected by a mission to educate children—no matter the age—you will find great ways to work together.”

Dr. Wylie expressed appreciation to the leadership and staff of Harborlight-Stoneridge for the cooperative relationships between schools.  He emphasized that Endicott wants to continue its relationships with the combined school and expand opportunities that benefit students and teachers of both groups.

According to President Wylie, “We are thrilled to add this classroom space to the Endicott campus.  We will create the School of Health Sciences and will move the current Bachelor’s and Master’s Nursing programs to the site.   The College will seek approval to offer Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant programs and a Ph.D. in Nursing in the upcoming year.”  Plans also include building an activity center including a skating facility adjacent to the school.  No timeline has been set for the construction.
