Five Women Wearing the Same Dress and InterMANzzo

Five Women Wearing the Same Dress Performed at Endicott College on October 11-13, 2012.

BEVERLY – In this wickedly funny, irreverent and touching play, Tony-award-winning playwright Alan Ball shows the goings on during an ostentatious wedding reception. Five bridesmaids hide out in an upstairs bedroom, each with her own reason to avoid the proceedings below.

Endicott College students will present this romp at Tia’s Theater, Manninen Center for the Arts, Endicott College, 376 Hale Street in Beverly on Thursday, October 11 2012, 7:30 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2012, 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, October 13, 2012, 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. General Admission is $15, Seniors and students of other institutions $10; and free to Endicott College I.D. and you can reserve tickets at www.endicott.edu/centerforthearts or by leaving a message at the box office at (978) 998-7700.  This program is made possible with support from the Bruce T. Halle Family Foundation.

The characters include a sweet but sheltered fundamentalist; a cheerful, wise-cracking, lesbian sister of the groom; a crazed, love-starved, almost-divorcee; the rebellious younger sister of the bride; and a jaded beauty whose die-hard cynicism about men is called into question when she meets a charming bad-boy usher to whom there is more than meets the eye. As the afternoon wears on, these five very different women joyously discover a common bond. Five Women Wearing the Same Dress will be presented with an original accompanying piece, InterMANzzo, an improvisatory look at what the groomsmen are up to at this Knoxville nuptial. These plays are directed by Penny Hansen, with guest director Lyralen Kaye.
