Endicott College is proud to host Arts Fest Beverly: Community Art Exhibition, a true community collaboration. Artists who live in Beverly, go to school in Beverly, or are affiliated with a Beverly Arts Organization will have their works on display all summer in celebration of Beverly Main Streets, Arts Fest Beverly. Each year a call to artists goes out in March, and this year we were pleased with the many wonderful works submitted.
Each year an artist is chosen who exemplifies the spirit of Arts Fest and this year we are pleased to announce that Margo Jones is our featured artist. Many will recognize her as the costume creator for the Beverly’s New Year Celebration. Her whimsical designs are not only fun to wear, but are engineered to be folded and stored flat in boxes throughout the year. The exhibition will include many, but not all of her works. Margo has hand chosen the Moon Goddess, octopus, chickens, the Wizard, cupcakes, owlets, and the bugs on hats, to name a few. Her contributions to the city of Beverly are greatly appreciated, and it is an honor to have her works in our gallery.

Talking with Margo you get a sense that she has a cherished connection with each of these creations. Since 1994, Margo and other volunteers have worked countless hours to be sure that the annual Grand Procession for the Beverly New Year Celebration is fun and memorable for kids of all ages. Margo shared a story of three women that came by to choose their parade costumes and how they were transformed not only by the costume itself, but by how much fun they were having trying them on. That is why she does this, to make others happy.
“After years of watching my students enjoy working on their art projects, the opportunity through Beverly’s New Year Celebration, came my way. The works allowed me to play, to create objects large and small for people to wear or to carry. All of these works are created by using fabric wire and paper,” states Margo Jones.
