Rescheduled Event -- Donald Holder: SMASH – A Discussion of Broadway Theater Lighting

BEVERLY – How do they do that? Have you ever wondered how a Broadway show’s lighting gets to look as amazing as it does? How the entire mood of a show is created by the position, timing and colors of the lights? Come find out on Monday, December 10, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. in a talk by American lighting designer, Donald Holder at Endicott College’s Walter J. Manninen Center for the Arts in the Rose Performance Hall, 376 Hale Street, Beverly.  The event is free and open to the public. 

Mr. Holder designs for the theatre, opera, and dance based in New York. He has been nominated for eight Tony Awards, winning the 1998 Tony Award for Best Lighting Design as well as the Drama Desk Award for Best Lighting Design for The Lion King. He won a second Tony in 2008 for the Revival of South Pacific. With numerous additional Broadway credits, he is currently the theatrical lighting designer for the NBC-Universal Television Series Smash. 

Mr. Holder earned a B.S., from the University of Maine, and an M.F.A., Yale School of Drama. In addition to his public talk, he will be meeting directly with Endicott College students and faculty throughout the day on Monday. He will also be available for questions after the event.
