Smoothies at Sunrise
Nothing beats a full breakfast but here is a healthy bare-basics smoothie that will super charge you body for whatever the day brings your way. A much better alternative to a coffee and doughnut.
Smoothies are a great way to start you day. They are quick, they are easy, and most importantly they are HEALTHY. One thing we can all use more of is time. The number one reason why people don’t start off their day with a healthy breakfast is because they don’t have time. I am going to give you a recipe for a bare-basics smoothie that will super charge you body for whatever the day brings your way. The recipe I am using is a simple nuts and bolts version of the Bonfire Green Smoothie (check it out on www.bonfirehealth.com). This smoothie only requires 5 ingredients and literally takes only 6-7 minutes to make.
Here’s what you will need;
One fully functional blender – you don’t need a $400 Vitamix, even though it is awesome. I have been using a $40 run–of-the-mill blender for the past 8 years, and aside from the occasional smoke and sparking, it continues to work great!

3-4 large leaves of kale – if the kale is too harsh to start, you can use a 50/50 blend of kale and spinach.
One large orange (peeled) – if you are adventurous, leave the peel on. It gives the smoothie a little more zing.

One banana – don’t be adventurous on this one, its best to peel it.
One large avocado – this is a great way to get some healthy fat into your body. This also will help keep you feeling full longer.
1-2 cups of water – I recommend either coconut water, almond milk, or a combination of both.
One TABLESPOON of Bonfire fish oil – * not required, but highly recommended. Moms, if you are having trouble getting the kids to take their fish oil this works great. They will never know.
Cram all of this into the blender and blend for 1-2 minutes. Serve and enjoy. When you first start making this smoothie, a general rule of thumb is to start off with a 50/50 mix of fruit to greens. Eventually you want to increase the greens.
Nothing beats a full breakfast but if you are pressed for time this is a much better alternative to a coffee and doughnut. Happy blending!
