For the second year in a row, The Beacon Restaurant will be honoring the memory of a beloved family member by hosting the Mike Havens Christmas Toy Drive. Before his passing, popular local contractor Michael Havens organized the toy drive for years in Marblehead by having the community donate unwrapped gifts and then hosting a huge holiday event at The Gerry Five club to distribute the gifts to less fortunate children. Now, his brother Curt Havens, a partner at The Beacon Restaurant and Bar, is carrying on that tradition in his brother's name. The Toy Drive has locations all over Marblehead where locals can drop off unwrapped gifts that will be picked up by the Marblehead Fire Department for distribution. In fact, Mud Puddle Toys on Washinton St. in Old Town is offering a 20% discount on toys to help the cause.
The first event to honor Michael Havens kicks off at The Landing Restaurant on Tuesday, December 9, from 6PM - 8PM for their Guest Appreciation and Toy Drive night. "Michael worked at The Landing for several years and we are honored to be able to carry on his tradition", said owner Rob Simonelli. Guests are encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift to donate on Tuesday evening while they enjoy a bountiful buffet for only $20. In return these guests will also receive a $10 gift certificate to be used at The Beacon Restaurant anytime during December through January 31st, 2026.
The final event will be held at The Beacon Restaurant on Saturday December 13, where Michael's brother Curt and his restaurant partners will host an unforgettable evening of fun with raffles and dancing featuring a full dinner menu provided by fellow Beacon partner, Chef Edgar Alleyne and an exciting live performance by fellow partner, Johnny Ray and The Johnny Ray Band.
Guests are encouraged to make reservation in advance online @ thebeaconmarblehead.com or come in person the night of the event. Dinner begins at 5PM; festivities begin at 6PM, and live music starts at 8PM. The Beacon wants to thank all of the sponsors who participated in this event along with the merchants who received all the unwrapped gifts, especially the Marblehead community who are giving so generously!
