Ever wanted to learn how to design a character? Especially for animation? Well, come on down to get some tips and tricks!Join us at BevCam, 261 Cabot Street, on April 29th @ 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

Special Guest Artist: Local Montserrat student and animator, Madi Mendoza, will be teaching this workshop!

Children will learn to convey their characters’ personalities through shape language, style, and color palette. Along with fitting their character into an environment of their choice! Each will get to make their own character and story, or improve on an already existing character that they have. BevCam will provide materials for this workshop, but if they wanna bring their own stuff, they sure can!

This workshop will be shown as an interactive demonstration and a hands-on experience, as participants will follow along and draw with the instructor. Reach out to Education Manager, Amanda Hurley, for any questions about our workshops: amanda@bevcam.org

Emceed by Billy Costa, the evening includes storytelling, live music, and a live auction. From Amy Beach’s luminous flute Variations to the autumnal depth of Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet, from Elgar’s intimate Romance for bassoon to the radiant warmth of Florence Price’s Adoration, we trace how far a single melodic line can stretch, and how much feeling a single breath can hold.
Breath and Line continues our multi sensory, accessible series “Notes on Belonging”. As the music unfolds, visual artists respond in real time, tracing the contours and phrasing of the performance. The result is an immersive exploration of breath, movement, and line.

Charlestown-born Steve Sweeney is known as the "undisputed King of Boston comedy“, the embodiment of the city he calls home, a local guy who has become a nationally recognizable talent.
Sweeney is known not only as a headlining comedian, but also through his many memorable TV and movie appearances. During the early 1970s, a small group of Boston 'would-be' comedians performed regularly at a comedy club started by Martin Olson and Barry Crimmins in a back room of the Chinese restaurant, Ding-Ho, near Inman Square in Cambridge, MA. This group also included such unknowns as Lenny Clarke, Kevin Meaney, Jay Leno, Bobcat Goldthwait, Bill Sohonage, and Steven Wright. Steve stood out from the crowd by incorporating his great insight into the New England political scene into his act.
He was the first of the Boston super-stars to break into television, appearing on "Park Street Under," a Boston based sitcom that many believe was the inspiration for the highly successful television show "Cheers." He's also been on "Late Night with David Letterman," "Evening at The Improv" and "Comics Come Home." You might remember his small but hilarious parts in films such as Rodney Dangerfield's "Back to School," Judd Apatow's "Celtic Pride," and "There's Something About Mary" with Ben Stiller.

A branding and design specialist by trade, Jeff studied at Carnegie Mellon, worked in Boston and London for many years, and co-founded and ran Catapult Thinking from 2000 – 2015. 
Following a stroke during a triple by-pass in 2015, Jeff’s recovery process was long and difficult, bolstered by refocusing on the more artistic side of himself. He found his love of fine art again and has enjoyed honing his skills over the past six years. Despite having to relearn many things with his less dominant side, he now draws with his right hand and paints with his left. Jeff’s main challenge remains language retrieval (Aphasia).
