With cars attending from as far away as Florida, Colorado and Canada, the 2014 edition of the Misselwood Concours d’Elegance promises to be spectacular. The show, which started in 2010, is one of two Concours d’Elegance shows in New England and celebrates its 5th anniversary on Sunday July 27.

With some of the automobiles being the only ones left in the United States, or just among a handful in existence worldwide, a remarkable array of vehicles will be making their way to Beverly. Spectators can expect automobiles such as a 1907 Success Model B, 1910 Peerless, 1914 Locomobile, 1938 Talbot-Lago, 1930 Bentley Speed Six, 1962 Rolls Royce Cloud II Drophead, 1956 BMW 502 and a 1965 Ford GT40 to be showcased among the dozens of other exceptional vehicles.

“The show is all about celebrating automotive excellence and style, and the Misselwood Estate at Endicott College forms the perfect backdrop for such an occasion”, remarks Patrick Cornelissen, Chairman of the Concours. In his regular life Cornelissen is the Director of Operations at Endicott College. With an extensive background in hospitality - ranging from restaurants and hotels in Europe to event planning on Endicott’s campus – Cornelissen is able to have a bird’s eye perspective on all aspects of the event without losing touch with what the show is all about: celebrating beauty and elegance. “Each August, we sit down and analyze the past event to see what works well and where we can improve, as I don’t settle for a status quo”, says Cornelissen.

With the weeks leading up to the event being the most hectic, the team is fielding phone calls and emails from all over the U.S. for last minute additions, or even just inquiries about the 2015 show. The event, which attracted several thousand people last year, is more than just your typical car show. On Saturday, almost 100 Tour d’Elegance participants will be driving a 70-mile loop on Boston’s historic North Shore. That day, spectators can see the cars up close at Ferry Wharf in Newburyport between 9:00am and 10:30am and later on at Endicott’s Misselwood Estate between 11:30am and 2pm.

The highlight of the weekend is however reserved for Sunday’s Concours d’Elegance, as 125 rare and exclusive vehicles will be showcased at the Misselwood property. During the day, a wide variety of activities will take place: from a fancy hat competition to fashion shows provided by Lorraine Roy at Bella Sera Bridal, musical entertainment and a bistro. Exclusive vendors will be on site such as Frank DiMartino, Alex and Ani and Salmagundi, while BMW North America and the Lyon-Waugh Auto Group will display their newest fleet of cars. After all, elegance and beauty is of all ages!
