Danvers Man Held For Indecent Assault Of Friend's Mom

Salvatore Sciortino, 22, allegedly became obsessed with a friend's mother, broke into her Beverly home, and sexually assaulted her.

BEVERLY, MA -- Salem Superior Court Judge Timothy Feeley delayed a discussion with Salvatore Sciortino, 22, of 4 Danielle Drive in Danvers, until August 8. Sciortino, who pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of indecent assault and battery, suffocation, and two counts of breaking and entering, wants to discuss a possible guilty plea with Feeley. Prosecutors allege Sciortino's obsession with a friend's mother, which started several years ago when he was still a teen, culminated with an April 14 attack on the woman.

On that night, Sciortino broke into the victim's home, covered her mouth and nose while she lay in bed and grabbed her chest. Two weeks earlier the woman had awoken to find Sciortino standing next to her bed. He allegedly said "I'm a disturbed child" before she told him to leave.

According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, Sciortino had previously stepped into the shower with the woman about three years ago. The woman also told police she had noticed some of her underwear missing, but had not reported the incidents until the April 14 attack.
