Danvers Water Rates Rise 5 Percent Effective This Month
The Water & Sewer commissioners said the increase will cost the average Danvers family about $25 more per quarter.
DANVERS, MA — Danvers families will be spending about $25 more a quarter in water and sewer bills after rate increases took effect on July 1.
The Water & Sewer Commissioners said after their public hearing last week that rates will go up 5 percent for Fiscal Year 2024 — with the new rate effective this month. The commissioners said that the average family that uses about 12,000 cubic feet of water per year will see an increase of $24.84 per quarter.
"We recognize and are understating of the impact this increase will have on our customers," said Danvers Department of Public Works and Utilities Director David Lane said, "but rate increases like this will help ensure reliable service for our customers and continue to fund capital improvements to the system."

Lane said the increases are needed to support the maintenance and improvement of system infrastructure as well as to fund day-to-day operations "needed to provide Danvers customers with drinkable water."
