Detour Coming To Beverly's Cabot Street Intersection

The detour will occur at the Rantoul Street intersection near the Essex Bridge on Wednesday night.

BEVERLY, MA — Another detour is coming to downtown Beverly.

(UPDATE: The road work has been postponed until next week.)

The state Department of Transportation said on Monday that construction will resume at the intersection of Cabot Street and Rantoul Street Wednesday night as part of the ongoing $6.3 million Cabot Street intersection improvement project.

The detours and lane closures will begin at 8 p.m. on Wednesday and last until about 5 a.m. Thursday morning.

Northbound traffic traveling from the bridge will not be allowed to turn onto Water Street or Cabot Street, drivers will be detoured further up Rantoul Street and then onto Edwards Street to get back onto Cabot Street and then Stone Street if needed.

Northbound traffic traveling from the bridge will be reduced to one lane.

Goat Hill Lane will also be temporarily closed through the night and traffic will be detoured onto Summit Avenue/Cox Court.

Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed and use caution.

The Mass DOT said all scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
