The building was planned for a 18-acre site next to Kelleher Pond and behind Next Generation Children’s Center on Essex Street. The project would have required a zoning change of the property that needed an OK from the City Council, but a request for a zoning change was never brought forward, the News reported
The land is currently zoned for residential single-family homes on 15,000 square foot lots and it would be perfect for a church or a school, according to the real estate listing.
