Diocese Seeks Office Tenants For Former School In Beverly
St. Mary Star of the Sea School closed in 2015 when it merged with St. John the Evangelist.

BEVERLY, MA -- The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Boston is accepting bids to lease the former St. Mary Star of the Sea School in Beverly. The school closed and has been vacant since 2015, when the Diocese merged St. Mary's with St. John the Evangelist in Beverly. The deadline for bids on the two buildings on the property is June 15.
"The property owners are seeking proposals from qualified developers and/or potential users of the space under a long term lease scenario. The properties will be delivered in their 'as is' conditions," the Diocese said in an RFP. According to those documents, there are two spaces -- one at 13 Chapman Street and the other at 15 Chapman Street -- with 26,000 square feet of space in one building and 14,000 square feet of space in the other. The Diocese is considering lease-terms of up to 99 years and is primarily focusing on developers looking to convert the school buildings into office space.
The Diocese is also marketing the location of the properties, which are close to Beverly's central business district and zoned for business uses. The full RFP is available online.
