Driver In Beverly/Wenham Route 128 North Rollover Crash Dies

The Essex County DA's Office said the 23-year-old man was pronounced dead at Beverly Hospital.

BEVERLY, MA — The 23-year-old driver involved in a single-car crash that forced the closure of Route 128 North near the Wenham/Beverly line on Wednesday afternoon has died.

The Essex County DA's Office confirmed that the 23-year-old man was pronounced dead at Beverly Hospital after Wenham and Beverly fire crews worked to extricate him from being trapped in the crashed car near Grapevine Road.

Essex DA Paul Tucker said the man's 2015 Honda Accord was involved in the crash at about 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

Pending family notifications, the name of the man was not being released Thursday, the DA's Office told Patch.

Wenham Deputy Fire Chief Jeffrey Baxter and Wenham police were the first to arrive and found the driver of the car trapped. Deputy Baxter called for Beverly fire to respond with hydraulic extrication tools to help the driver and crews were able to free the man.

The driver was then taken by Beauport Ambulance Paramedics to Beverly Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
