BEVERLY, MA — Endicott College and Beverly Hospital are working together in an attempt to restore the depleted nursing pipeline to the hospitals in Beverly and Gloucester.

The agreement will make Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals the "preferred clinical site" for the school's more than 600 nursing students. It also sets up a Beverly and Addison Gilbert Scholars program for Endicott nursing students.

"This mutually beneficial partnership heralds an innovative collaboration between the hospitals and college to formalize a pathway for critical frontline healthcare workers,” Endicott College President Steven DiSalvo.

The internship program is designed to provide students with a chance to be partners with mentors at Beverly and Addison Gilbert and comes at a time when more than two years of the COVID-19 health crisis has caused many nursing professionals to leave their careers.

"We are grateful to continue to engage with exceptional resources in our community like Endicott College and all the nursing schools in the area to create a path for students interested in pursuing health care careers," said Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospital President Tom Sands said. "It is critical that we look at innovative approaches to building a future nursing workforce on the North Shore, and this partnership is one step towards building a pool of nursing talent."
