"We are honored to welcome Beverly 400+, the Ohketeau Cultural Center, and members of the surrounding community to Endicott for an afternoon centered on learning, connection, and celebration," said Brandi Johnson, Vice President of Belonging and Strategic Engagement at Endicott College. "As Beverly reflects on 400 years of its history, it is essential that we recognize the Indigenous peoples whose histories and cultures are foundational to this place and create opportunities to learn directly from the people and traditions that continue to shape our community today."

The event takes its name from Naumkeag, the Indigenous name associated with the area that includes present-day Beverly and Salem. The region was home to Eastern Algonquian-speaking Indigenous peoples before European settlement, including communities associated with the Massachusett and Pawtucket peoples.
The powwow is part of Beverly 400+, an initiative that commemorates the city’s history and creates opportunities for residents to explore the people, cultures and stories that have shaped Beverly across generations.
Admission is free and open to the public, and registration is suggested for those planning to attend.
