"I just thought I would announce that publicly because (Monday) was the first day to pull papers," she said late in Monday night's meeting. "And I want to be clear that there's an open seat, which I think is a really exciting thing. My first election was an open seat. I think there were four or five of us at the beginning (of that campaign). So that's very exciting when that happens.

"I'm looking forward to watching it and attending lots of kickoff campaign events. There will be a 'last' Council meeting for me where I can get a lot more sentimental. But I just really want to say that it's been an honor and I want to make sure that people know that there is a seat available to run for in the best Ward in the city."
