Female Injured at Beverly Depot Monday Morning, Train Service Delayed

A woman was injured during the morning commute at Beverly Depot.

A woman was injured after an incident involving a train at Beverly Depot at about 8 a.m. on Monday, according to several people on the train.

Train service on the North Shore was halted for a time as a result of the incident.

Justin Marshall tweeted at 8:07 a.m. that the emergency brake on the inbound train was activated as it was leaving Beverly Depot and three minutes later an ambulance arrived.

It was not immediately clear the seriousness of the injuries. Some witnesses said she was struck while crossing the tracks and other said she slipped while trying to board a moving train.

The MBTA said service was halted on the Rockport and Newburyport lines for a time and some trains were cancelled. By 9 a.m., trains were running 10-30 minutes late, depending on the train.

Train 162, which is scheduled to typically leave Beverly headed to Boston at 8:23 a.m., was running about 50 minutes late. It was pulling into Salem at about 9:10 a.m., according to TransitLive.
