Former Student Accuses Ex-Teacher At Beverly School Of Sex Abuse

A lawsuit filed in Salem Superior Court names the Shore Country Day School, the teacher and a former headmaster as defendants.

BEVERLY, MA — A lawsuit filed by a woman in Salem Superior Court claims she was sexually abused by former Shore Country Day School Brinley Hall when she was 14 and a student at the school. The lawsuit also names the private school in Beverly and former headmaster Brian Walsh as defendants. The woman claims the abuse occurred in 1981.

The school said it launched an independent investigation into the allegations when it first learned of them in 2016, according to the Salem News, which first reported this story. The woman, who is identified as Jane Doe 1110 in court filings, said Hall gave her alcohol and sexually abused her during a school-sponsored camping trip to Peterborough, NH.
