Glen Urquhart School is Celebrating 40 Years
"40 + Forward" Reunion to be Held June 8 + 9 in Beverly Farms

Glen Urquhart School, the independent Pre-K to grade eight school in Beverly Farms will celebrate its fortieth year on the North Shore with a “40 + Forward” All-School Reunion and Celebration on June 8 and 9. The two-day event kicks off with a reception in the campus greenhouse on Friday evening and is followed by a family-friendly Saturday gathering that will feature historical walking tours, reflections from Head of School David Liebmann, an update on campus “green” initiatives, reminiscences with school founder Lynne Warren and past educators, a picnic lunch, artistic and athletic activities, and entertainment by award-winning performer “The Yo-Yo Guy.” Alumni, current and former families and faculty are all invited to attend.
“GUS,” as the school is affectionately called, was born in 1977 as the North Shore Middle School in a basement classroom at St. Margaret’s Church in Beverly Farms. The school expanded grade by grade and moved three more times before reaching its present location at 74 Hart Street. Known for an experiential, place-based philosophy, GUS curriculum integrates all subjects and leverages opportunities for learning across the surrounding North Shore. As GUS looks “40 + Forward,” the school will grow this September to include a full-day Pre-K program, build a nature-inspired outdoor playscape, and continue campus growing initiatives with local grassroots organizations Backyard Growers and The Food Project.
David Liebmann recently shared, “Glen Urquhart School has much to celebrate as we turn 40. From humble beginnings in a church basement to a 23-acre campus in Beverly Farms, we are a community celebrating 40 years of theme and place-based learning as we chart a course into a future filled with excitement and challenge for our students. Glen Urquhart School is a diverse community with families from all around the North Shore who chose our school because they believe in the spirit of learning and personal development we've provided for four decades.”
