Graduate Education Division at Endicott’s Van Loan School Introduces Two New Programs for Building Leadership Skills

2 new online programs at Van Loan School at Endicott College for Leadership & Education: M.Ed. Masters and Certificate in Social Development

The Van Loan School at Endicott College announces two new programs for professionals in the education field: an M.Ed. in Higher Education Leadership and a Certificate in Social/Emotional Development. Both programs start this fall and are offered in a 100% online format, two six-week courses per semester.

The M.Ed. in Higher Education Leadership is geared toward professionals wanting to transition to higher education positions in the areas of administration, advising, advancement, student services, or recruitment. The 36-credit online degree program offers individualized advising and support, plus relevant and meaningful curriculum. Courses include Ethical Leadership and Professional Communications in Higher Education.

“We designed this program for the busy professional wanting to transition into higher education,” said Associate Dean of Graduate Education Programs Dr. Lynne Celli. “The program provides online coursework that connects research to practice. Thus, upon program completion, the graduate has concrete knowledge that is readily applicable in a higher education setting.”

The Certificate in Social/Emotional Development equips teachers to help students adapt to increasingly complex challenges of contemporary society and improve problem solving, self-management, relationship, and social awareness skills. This 15-credit online certificate features one-on-one advising and support, and critically meaningful curricula in areas such as mindfulness and professional ethics.

“Contemporary PreK-12 education research supports the need for positive social/emotional development for all students to be successful in the academic arena,” said Celli. “The focus of the program connects current social/emotional research to application and practice in the classroom.”
