BEVERLY, MA — A gyroplane crashed Sunday in Beverly, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.

The incident occurred during takeoff, around 11:35 a.m., according to WCVB, which reported the pilot was brought to a hospital with critical injuries and Beverly Regional Airport closed for several hours but has reopened.

The NTSB confirmed it was investigating the incident, as was the Federal Aviation Administration, WCVB reported.
