Icy Highways North of Boston Cause Multiple Spinouts, Crashes

State Police are reporting dangerous conditions on the highways north of Boston right now.

The roads are icing over and causing spinouts and crashes even into early afternoon on I-95 north of Boston, State Police are reporting. This comes courtesy of the weather, as of late-morning temperatures hovering just below freezing and the fog and rain were making for a dangerous combination.

If you look at Google Maps or Waze, the I-95 was solid "red" northbound. On I-95 near Newbury, drivers are reporting a standstill as several cars spun off the road on account of the ice. WBZ reported crashes on 495 in Haverhill and in Andover.

"Please use caution in this area," tweeted State Police. "Complete standstill at exit 55 , Newbury," tweeted one person in response.
