ICYMI: Beverly Asks State for More Liquor Licenses: Report
The city has requested 12 more licenses in light of potential new businesses.

BEVERLY, MA – Beverly is one of two North Shore cities requesting more liquor licenses from the state to prepare for potential businesses hoping to come to the city.
According to a Salem News report, both Beverly and Salem have asked for more liquor licenses. Beverly has requested 12, which Mayor Michael Cahill hopes to receive by the fall, he told the Salem News.
Though state law limits liquor licenses to one per every 1,000 residents, municipalities often petition the state Legislature for more, a practice both Beverly and Salem have used in the past to successfully obtain additional licenses, according to the Salem News.
