The Learning Zone to open at Cummings Center

Child care center selects Beverly for its sixth location

Parents who live or work in Beverly will have a new child care option in 2016. The Learning Zone will open its sixth Massachusetts location in the space to be vacated by Beverly Children’s Learning Center at 600 Cummings Center.

The 21-year-old company also has sites in Belmont, Framingham, Waltham, Weston, and Woburn. According to president and owner Melissa Ananias, this newest center is expected to open in April and accommodate children between the ages of 1 month and 5.11 years.

Cummings Properties account manager Damien Savoie managed the building where The Learning Zone’s Woburn center is located. According to Savoie, when the Beverly space became available, he immediately thought of Ananias, who he knew was looking to expand to the North Shore. Savoie put Ananias in touch with Cummings Center leasing officer Jamie McManus.

The Learning Zone joins a list of many businesses—including American Renal, FedEx, North Shore Pain Management, Orthopaedics Plus Physical Therapy, People’s United Bank, and Subway—that have multiple locations in the Cummings portfolio. The Woburn-based firm operates properties in 10 suburban communities.

“We jumped at the chance to grow and expand with Cummings Properties,” said Ananias, who noted that the commercial real estate firm’s full-service lease is very appealing. “I don’t have to worry about building maintenance or snow removal—the facilities and parking lots are impeccably maintained—which allows me and my staff to focus on the children in our care.”

The 11,400-square-foot Beverly center will include a freshly renovated and tiled indoor space and a 2,570-square-foot outdoor play area. The building has convenient access to the popular walking path around Shoe Pond.

“We’re very pleased to welcome The Learning Zone to our Beverly campus and to provide another child care option for people working at Cummings Center as well as residents in the surrounding community,” said McManus. There are more than 500 businesses at Cummings Center.

The Learning Zone allows parents to log in to Kindercam, a secure online service, via any device to see how their children are doing throughout the day.

“We are so excited to bring The Learning Zone’s unique, quality child care to the Beverly area,” said Ananias, who founded the company in 1994 after graduating from Boston University, but credits being a working mother for the success of her business. “As a working mom myself, I know how important it is to know that your children are safe and happy while you are working.”
