Local Law Enforcement Takes the Ice Bucket Challenge

Beverly Police hosted a challenge at Lynch Park on Sunday.

Police and public safety personnel from throughout the region got ice cold for a good cause on Sunday morning.

The Beverly Police Department hosted an Ice Bucket Challenge at Lynch Park on Sunday and drew participants from Beverly Fire, Massachusetts State Police, the DEA, Wenham Police Department, Peabody Police Department, Essex Police Department, Georgetown Police Department, Salem Police Department, Gloucester Police Department, the US Coast Guard, and the Beverly Harbormaster as well as the Beverly Police Department.

Pete Frates, who is a Beverly resident, last year started a campaign to raise money to “Strike Out ALS.” This year, the Beverly Police Department gathered officers from around the state and from all jurisdictions to once again raise awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
John Frates, a Beverly City Councilor, and Pete’s father, greatly appreciated the support for this family from law enforcement.
